Black Is What Answers brings together five original instrumental horror stories. A sealed room, a cold furnace, an orchestra beneath cemetery roots, an empty throne, and a recording that follows its listener home all belong to the same imagined darkness.
The album’s concept draws on Amdusias and Phenex as contrasting musical presences: a harsh, hidden orchestra and a fragile, tempting melody. Funeral black, ash-gray decay, and bone-white metal give that contrast a visual language.
The sound behind the idea
The original sound brief pairs a detuned electric guitar’s low four-note motif with hollow metallic resonance and heavy pauses. Abrasive brass and bowed-metal textures answer delicate celesta and glass-like tones. These are the creative directions behind the album’s world.
The pauses carry part of the storytelling. An exposed phrase followed by empty space can make a room feel occupied by something the listener cannot see. Repetition connects the five fictional hauntings, while the contrast between harshness and fragile beauty gives each chapter a different emotional pressure.
A story without sung words
The narratives provide scenes to imagine as the instrumentals unfold. Isolation leads into disappearing memory, then an unseen procession, longing, and a final haunting that reaches the listener. Follow the chapters in order and notice how the idea of the four returning notes changes from one scene to the next.
